I can't pay rent this month

Emergency options when rent is due and you can't pay — what to do first, which programs move fastest, and how to avoid eviction.

Step 1 of 5

You have options

Missing rent is stressful, but you have more time and more options than you might think.

The most important thing: Your landlord cannot evict you without a legal process. In Nova Scotia, a landlord must give you a written notice and go through the Residential Tenancies Board. This takes weeks, not days. You will not be on the street tomorrow.

Let's figure out your best move right now.
