A good first step

You deserve a safe place to stay

Call 211 and tell them where you are. They'll find the nearest shelter with space and help you get there. No ID required at most shelters. This is a step, not a destination — there's support to help you find stable housing after tonight.

Going to a shelter

Most shelters accept you with nothing. But if you can, bring:

  • Government ID (any kind)
  • Medication
  • Phone and charger
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Any important documents (health card, SIN, lease)
  • Hygiene items (shelters usually have basics)

When you’re ready

There are programs that can help with money, housing, and bills. No rush — but they’re here when you need them.
