If you're going to a shelter tonight

You don't need any of these to get in — but they'll help if you have them.

  • Government ID (yours and your children's)
  • Health cards
  • Children's birth certificates
  • Medication (enough for a few days)
  • Phone and charger
  • Some cash if possible
  • Clothes for 2-3 days
  • Important papers (lease, court orders, immigration documents)
  • A favourite toy or comfort item for each child
