If You Just Lost Your Job
Apply for Employment Insurance (EI) as soon as possible — there is a one-week waiting period. Apply online at canada.ca or call 1-800-206-7218. You will need your SIN and Record of Employment from your employer.
While waiting for EI, if you cannot cover basic needs, call Community Services at 1-877-424-1177 for emergency assistance.
NS Works — Free Employment Services
